Let's Party Naked!

There are times in life you try to decide if you are living in the past, present or future. Being around the boys can often make you wonder. Stone decided that he wanted to play baseball - naked. I couldn’t figure out if this was a flashback to some stupid stunt that you pull in college or a glimpse into the future of Stone’s own college life. Generally, the concept of “Streaking” or getting naked in public occurred after many drinks and late into the night. Also, it usually came at the urging of someone who in no way was going to go streaking.

However, for Stone, the time of day and altered state of mind have no effect on him. Being naked is a way of being. This is refreshing and also slightly disturbing. It is a sign of no worries and a pure freedom of being while at the same time giving a glimpse as to what is to come in the future as he goes off to college (hopefully!) and does his own stupid pranks.

While watching him and Sterling play ball, you couldn’t help but get visions of how things will transpire many years down the road….

Stone – “Hey Sterling, I’ve got an idea. Let’s go streaking.”

Sterling – “Are you sure? Maybe you have had too much to drink. How about you go streaking and I stay here?”
Stone – “No, come on. It will be cool. We’ll run by the sorority house. The girls love it. I do it all the time and Sally and Jane really like it.”

Sterling – “I don’t know. Why don’t you take off and I’ll catch up.”

Stone – “Suit yourself. Hey everyone, let’s go streaking!!!”
….15 minutes later…..

Stone – “Sterling!!! Get out here now!”

Sterling – exiting outside, “What are you screaming about now Stone?”

Stone – “It’s the cops. Let’s get out of here!”

Sterling – “Oh, crap. Let’s go!! You idiot!! Let's Go!!!!”

Of course, we can only hope that the evening doesn’t end with that inevitable phone call to dad---“Hey dad, it’s Sterling. Stone and I were out last night and got into a little trouble. The cops caught us streaking, again. Can you get us out of jail? Oh, and please don’t tell Mom.”

Sterling Started First Grade!

It's very hard for us to believe but Sterling started First Grade last week! Here he is just before mom walked him in on the first day (keep in mind he told me I could only do that one time!)
He was very excited to be a "big kid", meet new friends and explore his new school. We were hit by the lovely Wake County school reassignment bug and had to switch schools after being at our last for just kindergarten. Sterling doesn't seem phased though and loves the new school!
Some of the neat things they have he's looking forward too - Marathon Maniacs running club (meets after school once a week), participating in the YMCA afterschool program and getting to utilize the awesome Miracle League baseball field that is on his school grounds.
